| The Stonefly |
Take a square of very fine wire netting and roll it into a cylinder. Sew the side and bottom edges together. Puff out the middle so that there will be room for the animal to move freely. Fasten the cage to a stick with fine wire, being careful not to enlarge the holes in the netting. Push the stick into the sand or gravel so that it will hold the cylinder firmly a few inches down in the water. Place the animal inside and sew the top edges of the cylinder together. If the animal is large enough so that he cannot escape through the wire, and the netting is not too fine to keep out smaller insects as the water flows through, you can soon learn what the animal eats and what his habits are
